Gujarat Budget 2026-27 Unveils Landmark Sports & Urban Transformation Plan
In a decisive move to elevate Gujarat’s global sporting stature, the state government has announced a ₹1,278 crore allocation to transform Ahmedabad into an Olympic Ready City ahead of the Commonwealth Games 2030.
Presented during the Gujarat Budget 2026-27, the plan positions Ahmedabad as a future-ready international sports hub while accelerating investments in tourism, hospitality, metro connectivity, and high-performance training infrastructure.
The Olympic Ready City initiative includes development of world-class stadium facilities, elite athlete training centers, modern spectator amenities, and global event-compliant infrastructure.
Ahmedabad will receive ₹500 crore to develop Olympic-level sports infrastructure and expand the SVP Sports Enclave into a premier international venue cluster.
Sports complexes across multiple districts will be upgraded to strengthen grassroots and competitive sports ecosystems statewide.
A dedicated Para High Performance Centre in Gandhinagar will support elite para-athletes with global-standard training facilities.
A new international-standard hockey stadium will further expand Gujarat’s sporting footprint.
The Olympic Ready City master plan integrates enhanced metro expansion, upgraded road corridors, and improved public transport networks to ensure seamless venue connectivity during Commonwealth Games 2030.
These upgrades will serve both international visitors during the Games and Ahmedabad residents long after 2030.
