Chanambam opened with 116kg in the snatch before clearing 119kg and then 121kg, a lift that stood as a new Games record in the discipline, according to a report by Telangana Today. In the clean and jerk he succeeded with 143kg but failed at 148kg and 151kg, finishing with a total of 264kg.
Gold went to Malaysia's Mohamad Aniq Bin Kasdan, who lifted a Games-record total of 273kg, while Kenya's Joshua Amunga Mboya took bronze with 260kg, Telangana Today reported. Coverage of the final by The Bridge and News9live corroborated the same lift totals and medal placings.

Chanambam's silver adds to the bronze that para powerlifter Jhandu Kumar won on Day 2 in the men's heavyweight category, with a total of 130.9 points built on lifts of 181kg and 190kg. Going into Day 4, India sat 10th in the medal standings with just that single bronze, according to Outlook India's Day 3 recap, while Australia led the table with 23 medals, including 12 gold.
The silver marks India's best individual result of the Games so far and its first medal in weightlifting at this edition, after Mirabai Chanu and other lifters had been named among the squad's medal hopes ahead of the competition.
Elsewhere in Glasgow on Day 4, India's men's 4x200m freestyle relay team of Srihari Nataraj, Aryan Nehra, Aneesh Gowda and Dhakshan Shashikumar qualified for the final after finishing third-fastest in the heats, News9live reported. Gymnast Tapan Mohanty competed in the men's all-around final, sitting 11th of 14 after three of six apparatus, according to The Bridge's live coverage. In lawn bowls, the women's pairs combination of Rupa Rani Tirkey and Pinki Singh lost a tiebreaker to Namibia but remained in contention through a later match against England.
The men's 4x200m freestyle relay quartet qualified third-fastest for the final.
Tapan Mohanty placed 11th of 14 after three apparatus in the men's all-around final.
Women's pairs Tirkey-Singh lost a tiebreaker to Namibia, with a must-win tie against England still to come.
India stood 10th after Day 3 with one medal, before Chanambam's Day 4 silver.
Boxer Lovlina Borgohain remains on course for a third Indian medal at these Games. The Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist received a bye straight into the women's 75kg semifinals because only five boxers entered the category, and Commonwealth Games rules award bronze to both losing semifinalists, according to The Tribune. That means Borgohain is guaranteed at least bronze regardless of the outcome of her semifinal against Taafaki, scheduled for 31 July.
"This is shocking news for me too. I didn't expect to reach the semi-finals this early," Borgohain said, as quoted by The Tribune. "I can win gold this time," she added, of her ambitions heading into the semifinal.
CWG boxing rules award bronze to both losing semifinalists, and Borgohain has already reached the semifinal via a bye.
Borgohain faces Taafaki for a place in the women's 75kg gold-medal bout.
